Welcome to the Box World page. Box World is a variation on a larger set of Japanese box-pushing, transport puzzles known as Sokoban. There are so many versions of the game and so many levels available that you could spend your life just playing Sokoban, provided that you are single and independently wealthy. Box World, itself, was originally released as shareware by Jeng-Long Jiang. If you wish to download his original Windows version of the game, you can get it here. This shareware version of the game is still playable, and it still records your current level, but in more recent versions of Windows you may get error messages from it. These occur while the game is in the process of writing a save file.

Keep in mind that the joy of playing Box World is in solving the levels. There is no reward screen when you are done; it simply returns you to the first level.

Box World is also available for Android, and there are many versions of Sokoban for other platforms. I haven’t provided links to them because I’d prefer it if you never, ever, left my site.

My solutions for the most difficult levels in the game are here.

Also, for you hardcore Box World fans, if you want to cut out and create 3D boxes like the ones I used for the banner at the top of this page, you can download an Excel template right here.
